The survey appears only after a customer completes an order edit through Order Editing.
You need access to App Settings to turn the survey on or off.
Survey responses are associated with the edited order. You can review them in Order Editing or in Shopify's metaobject content.
In the Shopify admin, go to Apps > Order Editing.
Select App Settings from the main navigation.
Select Global settings.
Open Customer Survey.
Turn on Show the customer survey after an order is edited.
Save your changes if the save bar appears.
The survey is enabled by default unless it has previously been turned off for your store.
After a successful edit, the customer sees a five-star rating prompt. They can select a rating and optionally add written feedback or an attachment.
The survey is designed to follow a completed edit. It does not appear simply because the customer opened the editing experience. It is also not shown for an order that only contains checkout-upsell activity without an Order Editing edit.
The survey can be suppressed when:
Show the customer survey after an order is edited is turned off.
The order has an outstanding balance.
The customer dismisses the prompt.
The activity on the order does not represent a completed Order Editing edit.
Return to App Settings > Global settings > Customer Survey.
Review the response list. Newest responses appear first.
Select a response to open its details.
Review the following information when it is available:
Order
Rating
Feedback
Attachment
Date
Select the order link when you need to investigate the edit in the Shopify admin.
You can also open the underlying survey entries in Shopify's Content area. This option is intended for live stores with the survey metaobject definition available. If Shopify content cannot be opened, use the response list in Order Editing and try again after your store setup is complete.
Setting | What it controls | Default |
|---|---|---|
Show the customer survey after an order is edited | Shows the five-star prompt after an eligible completed edit | On |
Rating | The one-to-five-star score submitted by the customer | No response until submitted |
Feedback | Optional written comments about the editing experience | Blank |
Attachment | Optional file supplied with the response | None |
Confirm the survey setting is on.
Open an existing controlled order that is eligible for editing and has no outstanding balance.
Complete and save a real change as the customer.
Confirm the five-star prompt appears after the edit succeeds.
Submit a test rating and comment.
Return to Customer Survey and confirm the response appears with the correct order and date.
Opening an order or viewing an upsell is not enough to trigger the survey. Complete an actual order edit during testing.
The survey measures the order editing experience. An order with checkout-upsell activity but no completed Order Editing edit does not qualify by itself.
Confirm that the survey is enabled, the order has no outstanding balance, and the customer completed and saved an edit. If the customer already dismissed the prompt for that order, use another existing eligible order.
Yes. The response can include written feedback and an attachment when the customer chooses to provide them.
Responses are linked to the order and mirrored into an app-owned Shopify metaobject. Use the response list in Order Editing for day-to-day review.
