Use Shopify Plus or a partner development store. The post-purchase app is not available to an ineligible store.
Shopify decides whether the post-purchase page is eligible for each order.
Only one app can be selected as Shopify's post-purchase app at a time.
Decide on one strong offer or a small, deliberate offer flow.
Confirm the products are active and available in the required markets.
One-Click Upsell appears after the initial payment and before the Thank You page. An accepted offer uses Shopify's post-purchase changeset, so the customer does not re-enter payment details.
Open Upsell Strategies.
Select Create Strategy > Create from scratch.
On Placements, choose One-Click Upsell for the Post-purchase.
Complete Placement and Markets. In Upsell Strategy Name, enter the name and select Draft while you install and test the placement.
Under Customer Segment, keep All customers or add supported post-purchase targeting.
Add and configure the product module under the product step.
Configure the strategy discount and quantity behaviour where needed.
Use DESIGN to build the page and preview the customer experience.
Review variant settings, locking, and any other ADVANCED controls.
Select Publish to save the strategy as Draft.
Use a product with a clear connection to the original purchase. Make the accept action, final amount, decline action, and any subscription terms easy to understand.
The One-Click designer can support an initial offer and follow-up pages after an accept or decline, depending on the product module and current configuration.
Use an accept follow-up only when the second offer is a sensible next step.
Use a decline offer sparingly. It should differ meaningfully from the original offer.
Confirm whether a branch uses its own discount or the strategy discount.
Keep the flow short so customers can reach the Thank You page without confusion.
Preview each branch you configure. A correct initial page does not prove the accept and decline pages are complete.
From the placement setup, select Open checkout settings.
In Shopify admin, find Post-purchase page.
Select Order Editing as the post-purchase app.
Select Save.
Return to Order Editing and confirm the One-Click Upsell placement is active.
This placement is not added as a normal checkout app block. Selecting another post-purchase app replaces Order Editing for that slot.
Open the strategy and select Preview.
Switch the preview to One-Click Upsell when more than one placement is available.
Check the product, variant, price, discount, quantity, copy, design, accept action, and decline action.
Open each configured accept or decline follow-up page in the preview.
Confirm Order Editing remains selected as Shopify's post-purchase app.
Change the strategy to Active and save it when the preview is approved.
The placement preview confirms the offer content and page flow without placing an order. It does not prove that Shopify will make the post-purchase page available for a specific checkout or that a real changeset will be charged.
Use one new controlled checkout only when you need to confirm Shopify's live post-purchase eligibility, payment changeset, or final order update. A previous checkout cannot replay its post-purchase page. Use a safe payment method, accept or decline the offer, continue to the Thank You page, and confirm any accepted item and charge on the Shopify order.
Shopify can keep an order in a pending post-purchase state when a customer closes the page without continuing. Use an Editing Time of at least 60 minutes when the app warns that the post-purchase hold can outlast a shorter editing window.
First confirm the offer renders in Preview. Then confirm the store is eligible for Shopify's post-purchase app, Order Editing is the saved post-purchase app, the strategy is Active, the placement and market match, and the winning module returns a purchasable product. Shopify does not show the post-purchase page for every order.
Compare Active strategies and their targeting. Then inspect module order, selected products, market availability, inventory, and hidden-product settings.
Check All filters match versus Any filter matches, the customer's current Shopify data, and competing strategies for the same placement.
Review strategy and branch discounts, compare-at-price behaviour, selling-plan pricing, taxes, quantity, and the calculated post-purchase changeset.
Confirm the branch has a complete supported product module and its product is eligible. Remove an unnecessary empty branch.
