These settings control whether customers can choose a shipping method during an order edit, which methods are available, and when Order Editing recalculates shipping.
To find them, open App Settings, select Global settings, then open Delivery Profiles under Delivery. On the Delivery page, select Customer shipping methods.
Setting | Customer experience | Availability |
|---|---|---|
Show available shipping methods | Customers can see and select eligible shipping rates during an order edit. | Disabled when a connected integration does not support shipping upgrades. |
Hide available shipping methods | Customers do not see shipping choices. Recalculation can still run in the background. | Available for stores that should not let customers choose another method. |
If an integration does not support shipping upgrades, Order Editing shows the integration name and disables customer selection to help prevent fulfilment problems.
The available modes change according to whether customer shipping methods are shown or hidden.
Option | Behaviour |
|---|---|
Re-calculate shipping for all shipping methods | Customers choose a method, and Order Editing can recalculate shipping after relevant order changes. |
Re-calculate only when free shipping eligibility changes | Customers choose a method, but automatic recalculation runs only when an edit grants or removes free-shipping eligibility. |
Option | Behaviour |
|---|---|
Disable all shipping method edits | Order Editing does not load, recalculate, or change shipping methods. |
Hide shipping rates and recalculate in the background | Customers do not choose a rate, but address and order edits can still update shipping when needed. |
Hide shipping rates and recalculate free-shipping thresholds only | Background recalculation runs only when an edit grants or removes free-shipping eligibility. |
If methods are hidden without a selected recalculation mode, the page asks you to choose how background recalculation should work.
The table combines method names returned by Shopify delivery profiles or found in order history. It may also retain methods that were configured previously.
Column or state | Meaning |
|---|---|
Visible | Controls whether the method can be shown to customers. |
Recalc | Includes or excludes the method when Order Editing recalculates shipping. |
Source | Chooses whether the recalculated rate comes from a Shopify delivery profile or a shipping app. |
Saved only | The method was saved previously, but Shopify is not currently returning it from delivery profiles or order history. |
A method can be visible without being recalculated. A method can also be recalculated in the background while customer choices are hidden.
If no delivery profiles or order history return method names, the table remains empty until Shopify supplies them. If recalculation is enabled but no methods are selected for recalculation, recalculation does not run for any order.
Use Filter by keyword to narrow all method names that contain the same word. Matching is case-insensitive, and each keyword must contain at least three characters.
For example, pickup matches Pickup, Customer Pickup, and PICKUP - Main Store.
Use the Visible control to manage one exact method. Use a keyword when several methods contain the same word, such as Pickup, In-Store, or Replacement.
Order Editing can only show rates Shopify returns as eligible for the current order. The result can depend on the delivery address, market, products, delivery profiles, and connected shipping apps.
Making a method visible in Order Editing does not guarantee Shopify will offer it for every order. Test with an order that represents the destination, products, and market your customers will use.
