The Analytics dashboard brings together revenue from upsells, customer order edits, address validation, and customer experience results. Use it to understand what customers are doing, where the app is creating value, and which areas need investigation.
The dashboard reports recorded activity. A blank card can mean no matching activity was recorded for the selected period. New stores see a welcome state until enough data is available.
Open Apps > Order Editing > Analytics.
Grant the read_all_orders permission when the app asks for it. This unlocks order insights and detailed metrics across older orders.
Confirm the app is live for the customers whose activity you expect to measure.
Allow recent activity time to process. The subtitle shows when analytics were last processed when that information is available.
Open Analytics.
Select the date-range control in the page header.
Choose a preset or custom range.
Apply the range.
Wait for the cards to refresh.
The date range applies to the main dashboard cards. Some lifetime or cohort views can use their own defined period. Read the heading and supporting text before comparing two cards.
The account summary shows key results for the selected period and opens a supporting chart when you select a metric. Upsell revenue is expanded first. When the selected period has edits but no upsell revenue, the edited-orders view can be selected automatically.
Use the summary as a starting point, then move through the themed sections for the underlying detail.
The Upselling section explains revenue from offers shown through Order Editing. Depending on your store's data, it can include:
upsell revenue over time;
recent paid upsells;
the offer funnel from views to accepted and paid outcomes;
Top Products and Top Collections;
average order value impact;
the share of the cart attributed to upsells;
repeat-purchase cohort information.
An accepted offer is not always the same as paid revenue. Review paid and removed outcomes when reconciling the dashboard with orders.
The dashboard card shows a shortlist. Select its drill-down action to open Top Upsell Products for the selected period.
Choose whether to rank the podium by Revenue or Units sold.
Use Search products to narrow the list by product name.
Sort the table by a supported column.
Review the product and variant, upsell revenue, units sold, orders, average price, customers, and top strategy.
Hover the top-strategy detail to see the recorded strategy revenue breakdown.
Change the date range when you need a different comparison period.
The Orders value counts distinct upsell sessions that included the product. Customers reports distinct customers associated with purchases of that product. If a product was renamed during the period, the customer value can be a minimum rather than a complete union across both names.
Deleted products can remain in historical analytics without a current product image.
Select the drill-down action on the Top Collections card to open Top Collections.
The table shows:
Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
Collection | The Shopify collection associated with the sold upsell products |
Upsell revenue | Revenue credited to products in that collection |
Products | The number of upsold products from the collection during the period |
Top strategy | The strategy that earned the most attributed revenue for the collection |
Use Search collections, table sorting, pagination, and the date range to investigate the result.
A product that belongs to more than one Shopify collection is credited in every collection it belongs to. Collection rows can therefore add up to more than total upsell revenue. Use Top Collections to compare merchandising groups, not to reconcile the store's total revenue.
Products without a qualifying collection can be grouped as uncategorized.
Top Products, Top Collections, and some other revenue breakdowns combine sales recorded in the currency each order used. They do not convert every sale to the store currency before summing it. The final number is then formatted using the store currency.
This means:
the figures are exact for a store selling in one currency;
a multi-currency store should treat combined revenue rankings as indicative;
changing the displayed currency symbol would not convert the underlying historical amounts;
order-level records remain useful when you need the currency of a specific transaction.
Do not use a mixed-currency product or collection total as an accounting reconciliation. Use Shopify's financial reporting for converted and settled financial totals.
The Order edits section explains what customers changed. It can include:
edited orders and self-serve edit rate;
when customers edit;
edit types grouped by address, product, shipping, cancellation, payment, contact, document, session, and upsell activity;
address changes;
contact-information changes;
quantity edits;
variant switches;
invoices printed.
One order can contain more than one edit type. Do not add every edit-type count together and assume it equals a unique order count.
When at least one address verifier is active, the Address validation section can show estimated net savings, validation results, rule triggers, and daily orders validated. Some rule-trigger reporting requires Shopify Plus.
When no verifier is active, the dashboard can show information about setting up Address Validation instead of empty validation charts.
Address autocomplete and address validation have their own usage data. A customer browsing autocomplete suggestions is not a completed billable selection.
The Customer experience section can include:
cancellation retention;
retention by cancellation reason;
cancellations over time;
time to cancellation decision;
customer survey score impact;
cancellation reasons;
support-message impact.
These cards appear only when their supporting data is available. Compare the selected period and metric definition before drawing a conclusion from two different cards.
Savings metrics estimate the time or support cost avoided through self-service edits. They are configurable estimates, not Shopify financial transactions.
Open Configure in the Analytics page header.
Select Configure Metrics.
Choose Time Saved or Cost Saved.
Choose Same value for every edit or Customize per edit type.
Enter the value or values that reflect your team's process.
When using one global value, decide whether to turn on Don't count upsells as savings.
Select Done to save the configuration.
The upsell exclusion is on by default for global metrics because an upsell acceptance is new revenue rather than an avoided support ticket.
Review these estimates with your support team. A default assumption can be useful for orientation, but a store-specific handling time or cost produces a more meaningful result.
Open Configure > Alerts to review available analytics notifications. Use alerts for meaningful changes that require attention, then confirm the result in the underlying report before taking action.
Use Ask Sidekick about your analytics to prepare a question for Shopify Sidekick. Sidekick can summarize supported Order Editing information, but the current dashboard and order records remain the source of truth for the displayed result.
Do not include API tokens, passwords, or unnecessary customer information in a prompt.
Choose a recent date range containing a known test or live event.
Open the corresponding Shopify order in another tab.
Confirm the edit, paid upsell, cancellation outcome, or address result exists on the order.
Return to Analytics and allow processing time.
Confirm the applicable dashboard card updates.
Open the drill-down where available and find the related product, collection, or result.
Check the currency and date-range caveats before comparing totals.
There may be no matching activity in the selected period, the feature may not be active, permission may be missing, or data may still be processing. Expand the range and verify a known event first.
Products are cross-listed. The full revenue for a product is credited to every Shopify collection it belongs to.
Some rankings sum the numeric sales values from each order currency without conversion, then format the result in the store currency. Treat those combined values as indicative.
No. Time and cost savings are estimates based on the values configured in Configure Metrics.
Confirm the date range, event definition, currency handling, processing time, and whether the card counts orders, sessions, customers, products, or events. Use order-level evidence when reconciling one transaction.
