How to Preview a Free-Shipping Offer

Review your free-shipping offer in a sample checkout on mobile and desktop.

Preview your offer

Use Preview to compare the appearance of your free-shipping offer in a sample checkout.

  1. Open Upsell Strategies and select a strategy with the Free Shipping Upsell placement.

  2. Find Preview beneath the strategy summary. It shows the offer and its content blocks together in a mobile layout.

  3. Select Expand above the offer. For a strategy with its own Appearance, this opens the appearance workspace; choose Full checkout and compare Mobile and Desktop. Review any changes before saving.

  4. Close the preview to return to the strategy. If you changed Appearance settings, save or discard them first.

The preview uses your available branding and offer content. The preview on the editing page always stays mobile. Switching devices in the expanded preview does not change it.

Understand what the preview changes

Switching the preview device does not change your saved strategy or live checkout. Appearance controls in the workspace can change the strategy when you save; use only the preview controls for a visual check.

The checkout is a sample one-page layout. Express payment buttons are examples, not a list of the payment methods enabled in your store. Image settings stored only in Shopify's extension editor are not automatically read by this preview.

When a recommendation is unavailable, the preview shows example products. The information icon beside Preview explains when examples are being used. Smart Recommendation, related products, and complementary products depend on the shopper’s cart and your settings; a displayed example does not confirm that a shopper will receive that offer.

A Rewards bar content block in the offer layout calculates progress from the same sample cart shown in the checkout preview. Both previews show the same amount remaining and completed rewards. The sample contains one item; bars restricted to selected products or product tags can show zero progress. The standalone content-block gallery uses an illustrative cart instead. Rewards bars appear on checkout placements only.

The free-shipping example uses a paid standard shipping option and a cart below the chosen threshold, usually $20 away in the preview currency. Smaller thresholds use a smaller gap. The checkout uses sample order information. It does not simulate every shipping tier, customer eligibility rule, or cart interaction. Check the final appearance and shipping behaviour in a test checkout before making an offer available to customers.
